The Exaggeration of Work

We are so important to think that our work is of the utmost importance, above all other endeavors. Hours strained over tasks, processes and goal setting that leads us to more tasks, processes and goal setting. Thoreau states:

We are made to exaggerate the importance of what work we do; and yet how much is not done by us!

Everything we accomplish leads to more things we need to accomplish. Growth births complexity. As we add more and more, even in terms of positive growth, we are only adding to the chaos that is trying to accomplish greatness in the eyes of man.

Simplicity is seeking less in an effort to know why we need less. Less for less’ sake is another thing to accomplish.
